The Kapitol Lending Library lends four books to three members: Dune and the three novels after it. Its librarian and its members are borrowed from Frank Herbert's Dune, and every copy is counted.
The eighth world
The library is the eighth world of World, the database Southwind lives in too. Southwind came from an older database and was translated in; the library had no database before. It was founded inside World, by World's own steps: found the world, design its words (a book; to lend; to take back), register its people and its books, grant the librarian her rights, give her a key, and let her act. Nobody wrote a table for it.
What you can watch
- Every copy counted. A loan adds one copy to what a member holds and a return takes it away; the shelf is what is left.
- Nothing is deleted. A loan made by mistake is not erased: it gets a reversal, with the reason, and both lines stay on the file. Open Loans and read them side by side.
- Each world keeps to itself. Southwind's people cannot lend the library's books, and the library cannot sell Southwind's goods.
Who made it
World and its rules are the work of Dimitar Hrisafov, a retired IT manager, with a co-author's team beside him all the way: Claude Opus 5.5 by Anthropic, which built and measured every part with him, and Claude Fable 5.1, the project's Oracle, asked on the larger designs.
